William Weaver

Coach William brings a passion for the game and a player-first mindset to his first season with the Pittsburgh Emperors. With four years of adult league experience, he loves sharing his knowledge and helping young players grow their confidence and skills on the ice. Originally from Bedford, Virginia, William now works inspecting metals for aircraft and rockets.

A dedicated hockey dad, he has two kids in the program and enjoys spending time with his family, working on cars, gaming, and watching hockey whenever he can. Known for his supportive and approachable style, Coach William encourages players to believe in themselves and never give up.

Where are you from originally? 

I'm originally from Bedford VA and just moved up here 6 years ago.

Do you have kids or pets? 

I have 2 great kids that are part of the Emperor's, Gabe our crazy goalie and our go get em girl Athena. We have 3 cats Furball, Rhea, and Yeeter and one crazy but extremely loving dog Mac.

Favorite sports team (besides the Emperors 😉)

Carolina Hurricanes by far but when it comes down to it I just love hockey so I like every team and enjoy watching a game every chance I get.

What do you do outside of coaching? 

I work night shifts for a company inspecting metals for planes, rockets. Apart from hockey I love racing and enjoy working on cars. And definitely video games.

Favorite hobby or pastime

I'm a wastelander I love playing Fallout 76 every chance I can get.

Favorite food

I like Chinese but I definitely have a thing for a nice greasy burger

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

This is a tough one... I would have to go with shape shift like Beast Boy from Teen Titans.

What’s your favorite ice hockey memory?

Winning the championship or scoring a hatty on the day I lost my Grandpa

What’s something silly or surprising about you that most people don’t know?

I still love watching cartoons, if hockey is not on our TV there's is a very strong chance it's a cartoon.

What's one piece of advice you’d give to young players?

Don't ever underestimate yourself, you're more than you'll ever believe, don't ever give up.

Anything else you'd like players and families to know about you?

I'm always here whether on or off the ice no matter the situation just reach out and talk. Sometimes all you need is someone to listen to you and I'm right here.
