Alexander-Michael, known to everyone as Alex, is a 9-year-old hockey player with a huge heart and an even bigger love for the game. For the past two years, Alex has proudly played for the Pittsburgh Emperors, a special needs ice hockey team that gives players of all abilities a chance to skate, grow, and belong.
Hockey isnât just a sport to Alexâitâs his happy place. He lives and breathes the game, bringing enthusiasm, determination, and joy to the ice every time he laces up his skates.
Off the ice, Alex is incredibly bright. He has a strong talent for math, a passion for learning multiple languages, and a deep curiosity about geography and geopolitical historyâinterests well beyond his years.
Alex is also a special needs athlete who faces daily challenges related to multiple medical and developmental diagnoses, including conditions that affect hearing, facial nerves, communication, attention, and sensory processing. Despite these challenges, Alex shows up, works hard, and proves every day that determination and support can open doors.
Alex, along with his parents, is asking for donations on his behalf to support the Pittsburgh Emperors. Funds raised will help cover:
Ice time and rink costs
Hockey equipment and adaptive gear
Team operations and program needs
Ensuring every player can participate, regardless of financial barriers
The Emperors provide more than hockeyâthey offer confidence, friendships, structure, and a sense of belonging for players like Alex. Keeping the program strong means keeping opportunities open for all athletes.
By donating in Alexâs name, youâre not just supporting one childâyouâre supporting an entire team of incredible players who deserve the chance to play the game they love.
Every contribution, big or small, helps keep the Pittsburgh Emperors on the ice and moving forward.
